Coming Soon: Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act

We are pleased to announce the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, Public Law No. 111-203, Stat. 1376 compiled by William H. Manz, will be added to HeinOnline's Taxation & Economic Reform in America, Parts I & II by the end of November!

This controversial Act was signed by President Obama July 21, 2010 and represents an attempt to deal with the problem of "too-big-to-fail" financial institutions, in response to the abuses that led to the Great Recession. It imposes new requirements and creates new agencies, which will exercise authority over companies that are believed to be a risk to the nation's financial stability and give the power to obtain financial information from these companies. This Act marks an end to the era of financial deregulation.

This work contains more than 140 documents and is broken down into nine parts, including: The Law, Reports on the Law, Bill Versions, Related Bills, Presidential Meetings, Congressional Record, Related Reports, Related Hearings and Congressional Budget Offices. Do you often look for a legislative history or other document that exists as part of a legislative history set? If so, you'll find this Webinar helpful as we explore the four collections in HeinOnline that contain legislative history material. These include the U.S. Federal Legislative History Library, Intellectual Property Law Collection, Taxation & Economic Reform in America, and History of Bankruptcy libraries. Below are some specifics that we will try to cover during the session:

  • What is Nancy Johnson's Sources of Compiled Legislative History Database and why should you use it
  • Browsing by popular name or public law number
  • Linking to Nancy Johnson's database entry from the title listing to view additional resources related to the public law
  • Viewing the cumulative contents for a legislative history
  • Searching across a specific legislative history
  • Searching across a specific document within a legislative history
  • Cross library searching within the U.S. Federal Legislative History Library
  • Faceted searching and it's integration into these libraries
  • And much more!

New HeinOnline Homepage - Information for IP Authenticated Institutions

We appreciate all of the feedback we have received from the launch of our new HeinOnline homepage.

A common concern among IP authenticated institutions is the new Log In to HeinOnline link on the new homepage. This link is the same as the green "Subscribers Click Here to Enter" link, just with a new look.

If you are IP authenticated:
clicking "Log in to HeinOnline" will take you to your subscribed libraries page. Alternatively, you may choose to access your subscribed libraries via this link: http://heinonline.org/HOL/Welcome and completely bypass the HeinOnline homepage.

If you are not IP authenticated:
clicking "Log in to HeinOnline" will take you to a login page, where you will be asked for your username and password. After entering your username and password, you will then be taken to your subscribed libraries page.

TIP:
If you are IP authenticated and would like to always go straight to your subscribed libraries page in HeinOnline, bookmark this link: http://heinonline.org/HOL/Welcome as HeinOnline in your browser.

If you have any questions, please let us know.

New HeinOnline Homepage is now Live!

We are pleased to announce that our new
 HeinOnline homepage is now live!

This new homepage will not impact the interface of HeinOnline, it will just present a new and improved look to heinonline.org, with a few changes to where things are located. We've answered a few frequently asked questions below, and we encourage you to check out the new website. Please let us know if you have any feedback or questions.

Where do I log in?
You can now log in to HeinOnline using the link at top right hand corner from any page where it says "Login" or you can also log in to HeinOnline from the homepage where it says "Log in to HeinOnline"

Where is Title Lookup?
Title Lookup is now at the top of every page on the new website to make it easier for you to search for a title while navigating the site.

Where is the "List of Collections" page?
The List of Collections page is now called "List of Libraries" and can now be found under "Content" in the tool bar.

Will this impact our proxy set-up?
Some HeinOnline customers currently access HOL through a proxy server or some type of access control device.  If your institution/agency/company falls into this category and your IT staff has the entry for HeinOnline configured as recommended with *.heinonline.org you should not experience any problems.  If you are hard coding the HeinOnline IP addresses (not recommended) the address of this new server is 208.69.85.203.  If you are having difficulties accessing HeinOnline or have any concerns/questions please email holsupport@wshein.com or techsupport@wshein.com.
