William S. Hein & Co., Inc. Honors Kevin M. Marmion, President, For 40 Years of Dedicated Service

BUFFALO, NY, April 30, 2010 - April 30, 2010 marks the forty-year anniversary of President Kevin M. Marmion’s employment with William S. Hein & Co., Inc.  The Hein Company is honored to have such a dedicated, career-driven, and admirable employee on its team.  Marmion has literally worked his way from the bottom of the organization to the top. He began his career at the company as a part-time warehouse employee in 1970 while attending the former Bishop Fallon High School in Buffalo.  His employment with the company continued while he worked toward a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Buffalo’s Canisius College. Upon his graduation from Canisius in 1975, Marmion became a full-time member of Hein’s Legal Periodical Department. Soon thereafter, he assumed the role of manager of that department.  He later served as company Executive Director, responsible for all front-office business operations and in 1986 was named Vice President of Operations.  In 1996 he was promoted to President and became solely responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day operation of the company.

As President, Marmion has been responsible for overseeing the operation of every division of the Hein Company including library services, traditional print products, microfilm, digital services and electronic services.  In May 2000, under Marmion’s tutelage, the Hein Company launched HeinOnline, the company’s most successful product ever, moving the company from its traditional roots into the digital age.  Marmion’s dedication, hard work and focus have made HeinOnline a leading award winning product in the legal research industry.

Marmion upholds the values represented in the organization’s mission statement; integrity and honesty, dedication to quality and service, corporate citizenship, commitment to excellence, valuing employees, teamwork and open communication.

Your Links Are Still Valid and the Permalink Button is Back. Thanks For Your Feedback!

After our recent announcement about the permalink button, we received a number of questions regarding the links you have already created using that button and whether those links are still valid. Any links that you created in the past with that feature are still valid links and will work in HeinOnline; nothing has changed in that regard.

By improving the linkability without the need to use the permalink button, we are hoping to make it easier to bookmark pages using your bookmarking options within your browser. If you do not use your browser's bookmarking functions, you can simply copy the URL from the browser's address bar and paste it into an email or another source.

For those who prefer using the permalink option, we have added the button back to the page toolbar to enable you to continue using it.

Linking to an Article, Page or Document is Now Easier; Permalink Button Obsolete

The Permalink button that has typically been used to bookmark a specific page within HeinOnline is now obsolete.  This button has historically been displayed on the page toolbar when you are viewing a document in HeinOnline.  This past month, we have made modifications behind the scenes to enable you to bookmark a page without have to click the permalink button first.  This will make it easier and faster to send a URL to a colleague, or bookmark a specific page using your browser's bookmarking tools.

Click here to view a short 60 second demonstration and see how easy it is.
