William S. Hein & Co., Inc. & HeinOnline are pleased to announce that Cassidy Cataloguing is now the official cataloger for HeinOnline. Hein has partnered with Cassidy Cataloguing to offer customers a source of MARC catalog records for every database in HeinOnline. This partnership will allow Cassidy staff and Hein staff to have an open channel of communication whereby Hein provides advanced and proprietary knowledge of new HeinOnline collections and new titles to Cassidy Cataloguing.
Cassidy Cataloguing will be kept apprised of changes in the Hein holdings as well as changes in embargo policies. The MARC catalog records created by Cassidy will be continuously updated to reflect the most recent information for each title. Records are then sent to the Cassidy subscriber as part of Cassidy Cataloguing's Monthly Update Service.
Hein considers Cassidy Cataloguing to be the only certified source of MARC catalog records to complement HeinOnline's growing electronic database. As such, they are considered to be the only service offering the most accurate and up to date MARC records for HeinOnline.
Currently, Cassidy Cataloguing offers MARC records for HeinOnline's core subscription package and nearly nineteen of HeinOnline's a-la-carte libraries. Beginning with the July 2010 HeinOnline release, Cassidy will also begin MARC records for the Legal Classics Library. For Legal Classics released prior to July 2010, Washburn Law Library has provided the records covering January 2005-June 2010.
